Aphex Start discussion list now available, again

March 19, 1999 — As some of you may remember, there was once a discussion list hosted on this site. It was grand. It worked well. Then, one day things were messed up. Probably by one single person; probably by myself. People were unable to automatically subscribe or unsubscribe. That was not good. The distribution file containing all the addresses of everyone subscribed was completely trashed. That was not good either.

Basically, what it comes down to is that the list is back up and running, better than ever. There are a few changes, though. The list will not accept posts other than plain text messages. This means no file attachments. Please keep files in private mail. Not everyone on the list wants your file. This also means no HTML or enriched text messages. Not everyone has an HTML capable email client. HTML messages also more than double the size of the message. Test it yourself. Send yourself an HTML message, then send the exact same message in a text only message. Check the message sizes. You'll see what I mean.

So here you are. This is your chance to get back on the list or get on it for the first time if you missed it last time.

To subscribe, send a message to aphex-list-request@aphextwin.org with subject: subscribe.

To unsubscribe, send a message to aphex-list-request@aphextwin.org with subject: unsubscribe.

To discuss with everyone else on the list, email aphex-list@aphextwin.org and your message will be sent to everyone on the list.

To reply to the list (as in, everyone on the list) make sure you use the "Reply to All" or "Reply to Group" feature of your mail client. Using the "Reply" or "Reply to Sender" feature sends a private message only to the sender of the message.

Eat it up.
