Windowlicker video press release from Sire Records
February 4, 1999
WARP/SIRE RECORDS TO RELEASE APHEX TWIN’S CONTROVERSIAL VIDEO "WINDOWLICKER."
AVAILABLE AT RETAIL FEBRUARY 23. British electronic music pioneer Richard D. James (Aphex Twin) has reunited with award winning director Chris Cunningham to produce "Windowlicker," a ten and a half minute short that has been described as "potentially the most controversial and mind-blowing video ever made." James and Cunningham (who also directed Madonna’s "Frozen") first worked together on Aphex Twin’s "Come To Daddy," which was nominated for numerous awards and took the Grand Prix Prize in France’s MCM video festival. "Come To Daddy" also earned the dubious distinction of being called "one of the most disturbing videos I have ever seen" by MTV’s James Hyman, and "the Exorcist of pop videos" by New Musical Express. "Windowlicker" will be packaged as a video single and released to retail by Warp/Sire Records on February 23. The CD single for the song will be released March 23, and a full length album by Aphex Twin is forthcoming.
